DESCRIPTION:
Lime peel is often cold pressed from the rind of the fruit of the lime tree to produce an essential oil that is gold to yellowish green in color. It is an essential oil with furanocoumarins, which can cause photo toxic reactions from the sun if used in products for the skin. Green Valley’s Lime essential oil is a steam distilled version of this oil, making it safer for use in products that will be used on the skin. Some of the regions/countries that produce Lime essential oil are Florida, Central America, Italy and the Caribbean Islands.

Lime essential oil is very refreshing to use, especially in hot climates. It is a popular addition to many aftershave lotions for men, and due to its astringent qualities is useful for oily skin. As with other citrus essential oils, lime essential oil is great as a diuretic, drainer and lymphatic stimulant, making it useful when treating obesity, water retention and cellulite. It carries
with it some antidepressant capabilities, so it’s great for use with S.A.D. (along with other “happy” oils). Again, because this is a citrus essential oil, it can be irritating to the skin, so never apply without first mixing with a carrier oil and be aware of this on sensitive skin. Lime essential oil may also act as a febrifuge and therefore be cooling when fever is present.

Lime is uplifting and fruity and gently detoxifying and toning for the skin. It is Ideal for diffusion.

Lime is often used for its uplifting and invigorating properties. When diffused, the sweet, clean citrus aroma can clear your mind and encourage mental energy. It can also help support a healthy immune system.

It blends well with citronella, clary sage, coriander seed, eucalyptus lemon, grapefruit pink, jasmine absolute, lavender, lemon, may chang, neroli, orange, peppermint, petitgrain, rosemary, sandalwood australian, and tangerine.

DIRECTIONS:
Add to a cleanser or carrier oil to help with oily skin. Combine lime essential oil with spearmint in a refreshing foot soak after a long day on your feet!

Aromatic - Diffuse using 3-4 drops per 100 ml of water or use in a personal inhaler.

Topical - Dilute to a maximum 0.7% in a carrier.

CAUTIONS:
Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. If swallowed, seek urgent care/call poison control. Do not use undiluted. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes; if contact occurs, rinse with vegetable oil. Do not use if pregnant/breastfeeding or on sensitive/inflamed skin or dermatitis. If allergic reaction occurs, stop use and call a health care practitioner. For prolonged use, consult a health care practitioner.

SPECIFIC CAUTIONS:
Lime essential oil is phototoxic, so do not use before exposure to the sun or tanning beds. Can cause photosensitivity. To avoid, use a maximum of dilution of 0.7% for topical applications. Use in moderation on the skin as can be irritant. Avoid during pregnancy.
