Cedarwood Atlas is well known to assist with hair loss. It has a beautiful, smooth, woody, slightly smooky, balsamic aroma that is often used in perfumes and mens cologne. When applied topically it brings a warming property to a blend and helps with circulation.

Rich, sweet and woodsy, this essential oil promotes relaxation, grounds the emotions and is balancing for oily skin. One of the oldest aromatics, cedarwood has been known to symbolize strength and courage.

Description of Plant: A pyramid shaped evergreen tree with silvery bluish leaves, cylindrical cones about 120 feet tall and lives more than 1,000 years.
Where Cultivated: It is native to the Atlas Mountains of Nigeria, but now cultivated in North Africa, Morocco.

BASE NOTE: A rich, lingering aroma that develops slowly on the skin; acts as a grounding element for lighter notes that may dissipate quickly.

DESCRIPTION:
This Cedarwood essential oil is steam distilled from the wood of the Atlas cedar tree. This produces a thick, yellowish essential oil. Cedarwood has been used by nearly every ancient civilization in medicine, perfumery and cosmetics. The Egyptians were well-known for using it in their embalming practices. When the wood was used to create storage chests, it was discovered that its scent repels insects!

Cedarwood essential oil’s active constituents include cedrol, cadinene and other sesquiterpenes and many terpenic hydrocarbons. It is a very powerful antiseptic, fungicidal and antiseborrheic which means that it helps with dandruff, hair loss and oily hair.

Cedarwood essential oil is used as an expectorant in bronchial infections because it to break down mucus.

In a bath Cedarwood essential oil can help in the treatment of cystitis and vaginal infections and discharges (always remember to see a doctor for the cause of these infections). As a mild astringent, it is great for treating acne. This oil may also help to eliminate lactic acid and move toxins from joints, as well as help with cellulite.

Cedarwood is toning and woody, soothing and antiseptic, and balancing for the skin.

Atlas Cedarwood has a rich, woody, slightly sweet and spicy aroma that is reminiscent of the antique cedar chests handed down from generation to generation. This wonderful essential oil is known for its therapeutic properties throughout the oil world.

Use Atlas Cedarwood to create an atmosphere that is positive and calming from the chaos and negativity around you. It can also be used on special nights to help set the mood.

It blends well with bergamot, clary sage, cypress, frankincense carterii, jasmine absolute, juniper berry, lemon, neroli, pine scots, rosemary, vetiver, and ylang ylang.

DIRECTIONS:
Add a few drops to your diffuser, personal inhaler, or diffuser necklace to help promote a positive and calming atmosphere.

To promote a healthy, flake-free scalp, add a few drops of Atlas Cedarwood to your favorite shampoo and use as directed on your shampoo bottle.

Aromatic - Diffuse using 3-4 drops per 100 ml of water or use in a personal inhaler.

Topical - Dilute 2-4% in a carrier.

Add 2 drops to a bowl of steaming water/facial steamer and inhale deeply for 5-10 minutes.

For massage, add 1-10 drops to 2 tsp carrier oil.

Add 5-10 drops to 10 ml of carrier oil for local application.

Start with lowest number of drops; increase as desired.

Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. if swallowed, seek urgent care/call poison control. Do not use undiluted. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes; if contact occurs, rinse with vegetable oil. Do not use if pregnant/breastfeeding. If allergic reaction occurs, stop use and call a doctor. Avoid exposure of applied areas to the sun. Do not use on sensitive, inflamed or damaged skin. For prolonged use, consult a health care practitioner.
