Source: An evergreen small tree. A smooth greyish bark, and oval, aromatic, green leaves with small clusters of yellow flowers. Purple-black aromatic berries follow the flowers. This is an evergreen tree which can grow up to 20 meters high with dark green, glossy leaves and black berries.
Where Cultivated: It is native to the Caribbean Islands, but now established in all the Mediterranean countries and further north.

TOP NOTE: Fresh and light, top notes are often the first aromas to reach the nose and dissipate quickly.

DESCRIPTION:
The complex chemical constituents of Bay Essential Oil, which include Cineole and Linalool, offer antiseptic, antibiotic, analgesic, anti-neuralgic, astringent, insecticidal and sedative properties. These properties have been sought in the treatment of rheumatism, muscular pain, circulation problems, colds, flu, dental infections and skin infections.

It helps reduce fevers and also contributes to sweat. It boosts the immune system. It is effectively safeguarding body against infections. It can also assist in stimulating blood vessel contraction, and alleviating poor circulation.

It is used for loss of appetite. It promotes the discharge of bile into the stomach. It keeps the stomach functioning fine and maintains it in good health.

It protects wounds against infection and inhibits bacterial growth. It is best known for dandruff and hair loss. It is considered to be hair and scalp tonic. It also pulls up the sagging skin.

It reduces pain and is particularly effective in pains resulting from sprains. It induces contractions in muscles and tissues.

It tones nervous system, thus making more alert and active. It helps provide relief from condition like anxiety, depression and travel fatigue. It gives awareness, confidence, courage and mindfulness.

SPECIFIC CAUTIONS:
Contraindicated to pregnancy, in case of breast-feeding, and all children less than 3 years of age. May cause dermatitis in some individuals. It can be a dermal sensitizer. Dermally, its use should be avoided by people with hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin. Oil can corrode metal. Bay has a high eugenol content and may irritate the skin and mucus membranes, so use with caution. Avoid during pregnancy
