Description of Plant: It is a perennial herb with hairy green leaves, which have a hint of purple. It has numerous small flowers which can be pale-blue, purple or white.
Where Cultivated: It is native in Southern France, Italy, Syria and now cultivated worldwide mostly within European regions, including Central Europe, as well as England, Morocco, Russia and the United States.

DESCRIPTION:
Clary Sage is an herb. Its flowering tops are steam distilled to produce a colourless essential oil. Some of its countries of origin include Hungary, Spain, Italy, and France. The main chemical constituents of Clary Sage essential oil are linalyl acetate sclareol, linalol, salvene and salvone.
Clary Sage essential oil is a powerful muscle relaxant and is especially useful where muscle tension arises from mental or emotional stress.
When used in skin care, Clary Sage essential oil may help to regenerate aged skin by improving cell regeneration. It is very soothing on inflamed skin, and on oily skin and hair it can help to regulate seborrhea. It is also known as a scalp stimulant and may assist with hair growth.
Clary Sage essential oil is extremely calming and it may help with anxiety, emotional tension, depression as well as post natal depression. It has been said that those using Clary Sage will experience dramatic and colorful dreams. It should be noted, as well, that this oil should not be used in conjunction with alcohol, as this combination can give rise to very severe nightmares!
Clary Sage essential oil’s antispasmodic properties make it an excellent choice for menstrual cramping. It contains a hormone-like compound similar to estrogen, so it can be used to help regulate hormones.

Clary Sage is extracted using steam distillation from the leaves and flowering tops of the Clary Sage plant to create an essential oil that is 100% pure with absolutely no additives or fillers. To help relieve the issues brought on by a normal woman's menstrual cycle, Clary Sage can be used topically with a carrier oil at a 2-5% ratio, or diffused to create a balancing atmosphere. The wonderful aroma of Clary Sage is very earthy and has hints that are fruity, floral, nutty, and herbaceous. This very soothing aroma is the key blend that helps create an atmosphere that is balancing and calming when emotions are rampant.
It blends well with bergamot, cedarwood virginian, chamomile german, chamomile roman, geranium egyptian, jasmine absolute, lavender, neroli, orange sweet, rose absolute, sandalwood australian, vetiver, and ylang ylang.
DIRECTIONS:
For menstrual pain, combine Clary Sage with Geranium, Marjoram and Carrot Seed.
Add to your favorite carrier oil and use as a daily moisturizer or diffuse into the air for its mood-enhancing properties.
Aromatic - Diffuse using 3-4 drops per 100 ml of water or use in a personal inhaler.
Topical - Dilute to 2-5% in a carrier.
Add 4-12 drops to a bowl of steaming water/facial steamer and inhale deeply for 5-10 minutes.
