DESCRIPTION:
Niaouli is a bush from which the leaves and young twigs are steam distilled to produce an oil that can vary in color from pale to dark yellow. It contains between 50% and 60% cineol, eucalyptol, terpineol, pinene, limonene and various esters. Its main country of origin is Australia.

Niaouli has antiseptic properties and is therefore excellent for cleaning wounds, cuts or grazes, especially if any dirt has gotten into them. Add 5 or 6 drops of Niaouli to 250mls of boiled cool water and rinse wound repeatedly. It is a powerful tissue stimulant and therefore will help healing. Niaouli is not irritating to the skin, when used in suitable dilutions.

Niaouli can be used in massage and as a gargle. Because of its tissue stimulation qualities, Niaouli may help with burns.

A little-known use for Niaouli is with radiation therapy for cancer. A thin layer may be applied to the skin before each session of cobalt therapy and this may provide some protection to the area being treated to minimize the burning effects on the skin. The tissue stimulating properties are most likely responsible for helping the burns to heal faster.

Related to tea tree and also native to Australia, niaouli is mainly used for its antiseptic properties and respiratory support especially during the winter months.

Niaouli, also in the same family as Tea Tree and Cajeput oils, has a variety of uses. It is best known for respiratory support, especially during seasonal pollen threats. It is also useful in skin care, especially in the case of blemishes or in minor scratches or scrapes. Niaouli can also be an adjunct when added to a blend for the aches and pains associated with aging.

It blends well with cajeput, cedarwood virginian, cypress, eucalyptus globulus, lavandin, lemon, peppermint, pine scots, rosemary, spruce hemlock, tea tree, and ylang ylang.

DIRECTIONS:
To help support healthy joints, Niaouli can be added to a carrier oil and smoothed over the affected area. Niaouli is also effective in resolving skin problems such as teenage blemishes and the occasional minor cooking burn. Diffuse into the air or use in an inhaler to help with symptoms caused by seasonal pollen or illness threats.

Aromatic - Diffuse using 2-3 drops per 100 ml of water or use in a personal inhaler.

Topical - Dilute 2-5% in a carrier.
