Source: it is an evergreen bitter orange tree, which has dark-green, ovate leaves, white flowers with thick, fleshy petals and small dark fruit.
Where Cultivated: It is native to Southeast Asia, from where it spreads to India and Persia and today grows in the Mediterranean, California and South America.

TOP NOTE: Fresh and light, top notes are often the first aromas to reach the nose and dissipate quickly.

DESCRIPTION:
Petitgrain is an oil that is obtained from the steam distillation of the leaves and young tips of twigs of the bitter orange tree. This oil has a fresh, flowery, light perfume resembling its cousin Neroli. Chemically it shares many of the same properties as Neroli. Some of its constituents are linalyl acetate, geranyl acetate, and linalol, with some areas of origin being Paraguay and the Mediterranean region.

Petitgrain is a wonderful oil to use for insomnia, especially if the insomnia is a result of loneliness and depression. It is an antidepressant (great for Seasonal Affective Disorder) and NOT photo toxic, making it a useful addition to body lotions for use throughout the day.

In skincare, petitgrain is helpful to control the over production of sebum and is a gentle antiseptic. For skin that is prone to acne this oil is a great addition to a regular skin care regime.

Petitgrain distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, the same tree that gives us neroli. Petitgrain has an uplifting, fresh and floral aroma, and is soothing for the spirits and slightly astringent on the skin. it makes a good massage oil.

During times of great emotional upheaval, Petitgrain is a go to choice to help balance emotions. A favorite for skin care, Petitgrain is gentle, yet effective to help with blemishes and oily skin. Petitgrain can help soothe upset tummies when applied with your favorite carrier oil to the abdomen.

It blends well with basil, bergamot, clary sage, coriander seed, jasmine absolute, lemon, lime, mandarin, neroli, orange blood, palmarosa, grapefruit pink, rosemary, and ylang ylang.

DIRECTIONS:
Add 2 drops of Petitgrain and 2 drops of Mandarin to your favorite aromatherapy diffuser, personal inhaler, or diffuser necklace to help calm and balance the mind during times of high emotional duress. Dilute using a 1-3% ratio with your favorite carrier oil and apply topically to the skin to help blemishes and oily skin.

Aromatic - Diffuse using 2-3 drops per 100 ml of water or use in a personal inhaler.

Topical - Dilute 1-3% in a carrier.
